Kayla's Happiest Birthday

Kayla really wanted to go to Disneyland for her birthday this year. And we were on track until mid October when things kind of fell apart and we took the trip away. But being the awesome dad Ken is, he talked me into giving her another chance. This time it would come with a whole bunch of stipulations that she had to meet before we would go and we wouldn't tell her whether or not she was going to go until the day before we were going to leave. Well, Kayla worked really hard to keep things in check, not an easy thing for Kayla to always do. But she did it and we were very proud of her for working do hard to reach her ultimate birthday wish. As a matter of fact, she continues to do absolutely awesome.
We have never been to Disnleyland when it's been decoraded for Christmas. It was AMAZING! I told Ken my two favorite things wrapped up into one. The lines were not that great, but they weren't that bad either. The worst line we waited in was probably only 40 minutes. Even thought there were a million people there! Alyssa had one of the giant turkey legs for lunch one day and loved it! And for Kayla's birthday we went to The Rainforest Cafe. Unfortunately, Shelisa didn't get to go with us, but she got to see BYU beat the University of Utah in football... almost just as much fun! We missed her a ton! She's for sure going with us next time! Thanks for a super fun birthday celebration Kayla. We're glad you made it!

Daddy Daughter at the Circus

Last night we had a Daddy Daughter activity for Young Women's. The theme this year was the circus. We had peanuts in the shell, corndog, cheese fries, fruit kabobs, lemonade and ice cream sandwiches (circus foods). We blew up a ton of balloons and had streamers going from the outside walls to the center of the room to make it look like a circus tent. The girls face painted their dad, Alyssa was there so she helped Kayla paint Ken's face. Everyone had to do a circus act too. We had juggling, joke telling, disappearing feet and hoola hoop acts. Everyone had a GREAT time! The dad's were great sports.

Pumkin Carving

A few days before Halloween Alyssa and Ken carved their pumpkins. Kayla helped take pictures. They were really cute, too bad they started to go moldy and we had to throw them away.

It was a Beautiful Day!

Anyone who knows me well, knows I LOVE U2! I haven't always loved U2, there was a time in the 80's that an ex boyfriend turned me off and it took a while to really have any desire to even listen to them again. But now, I'll admit, I have all their albums, belong to their fan club and I'm even crazy enough to go to Vegas to see them. Last night was a MAGNIFICENT night. Ken and I met Liz and Dev (sister and brother-in-law) in Vegas yesterday and we went to U2! The Black Eyed Peas opened up for them and they were amazing. The energy was incredible. They played a lot of their older stuff and I have to say Pump It and I've got a Feeling were AWESOME! But U2, well, what can you say, their U2 and the best showman EVER! From the moment they stepped on stage until their last encore, you couldn't help but be totally in the moment. Some of my favorites were Elevation, Streets, I'll Go Crazy (love, love, love the remix), Magnificant and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. They have announced dates for another European leg next August and September and the rumor is they will be back in the states in June and July. I will be there! Along with any friends and family who want to tag along. But we're buying general admission; on the floor; hang out all day at the venue tickets! It's up close and personal next time!

The Pumpkin Patch

A few years ago we found a really fun pumpkin patch that we like to go to. It's about an hour from our house, but they have some really fun things for the girls. They have three corn mazes. They vary in difficulty. We didn't choose the easy one or the hardest. We went with the middle, which still proved to be difficult because we ended up back tracking. They have a haunted house that Kayla and I stayed out of but Alyssa and Ken when in. Alyssa said it was SUPER scary. Ken said it wasn't. But one of the funnest things they have are pumpkin blasters. They have air cannons that shoot mini pumpkins. You can get a basket of 12 for $5.00. It's pretty fun. We pick up four pumpkins too. I was scared the grand total was going to be ridiculous, but they charge by the pound. It wasn't as bad as I thought.

22 Days and Counting

Only 22 days until we go to Vegas for the U2 concert. We ordered our t-shirts online so we won't have to wait in the long lines to get them at the concert. They came today in the mail, super cute!
