U2 Concert
Shelisa got her housing
It's a Mexico Vacation
Ken and I spent last week in Puerto Vallarta with my sister Liz and her husband Devin. We had a BLAST! I think Liz got a little homesick for her little boy Kale towards the end. But other than that, things were great. We didn't do a whole lot of anything except lay around at the pool or beach, eat chips and guacamole, and take the occasional bus ride from our hotel in Nuevo Vallarta into Puerto Vallarta for dinner and shopping. We did take a fun bus ride to a little town, San Juan, about 20 miles inland from our hotel. It was a very typical Mexican town, dirt and cobblestone streets, cows walking down the street, kids running around with no shoes on, etc. However, Liz and I found a great little shoe store and of course we had to by shoes. The little old guy probably sold to us in one day what he makes in a week. We also had a very creative maid assigned to our room. She made bunnies and swans out of towels. She was looking for a good tip from us! Everyone has been asking about the Swine Flu. We haven't had any symptoms, even though we had a layover in Mexico City, and we're not expecting to get sick. We should have had symptoms by now. Thanks to Liz and Dev for going with us. We had an amazing time with you. Vacation
Our vacation has been awsome so far. We're having a great time with Dev and Liz. We've laughed so hard sometimes, it's made me cry. The weather is beautiful and we enjoy just relaxing by the pool. But use the sunscreen. Dev and Liz didn't get here with one of their suitcases, the one with all their clothes, they finally got it last night. They only went two and a half day's with out it.
WE HAVE OUR U2 TICKETS!
Calzone Fundraiser
The young women in our ward had a fundraiser to help the girls pay for girls camp. We made and sold almost 500 calzones. It took us 4-5 hours to make them, but it was a lot of fun. I am a little tired of the High School Musical 3 Sound track, but overall that was the only really annoying thing. The girls and the leaders worked really hard and the finished product turned out absolutely YUMMY!
Gus and Us
We watched Marley and Me last night and we got a glimps of what our family will be like when Gus is no longer with us. I do have to say, Gus is a better dog than Marley, at least he doesn't eat everything in sight. Gus just spends a lot of time in the corner sleeping and smelling. If you haven't seen it you should rent it. Even Kayla and Alyssa almost cried. Of course, I did. But then I cry though a lot of movies.
Project Runaway!
Have you ever had one of those project that you think will only take you a few hours and two weekends later you finally have the project done? Well that has been our last two weekends. We used to have some UGLY old cupboards at the end of our hallway that we reconstructed last summer and made into a closet. Then we shut the doors only to open them when we absolutely needed to (hazard area). We'll we finally finished the closet reconstruction via the kids bathroom plumbing project, hence the two weekends. The tub faucet was leaking and it wasn't just a simple fix, Ken had to install a new faucet and fixtures (everything has to match). And the plumbing had to be done from inside the closet. So while we were at it, we painted the closed. It hadn't been painted since we moved in eleven years ago and who know when it was painted before that. We also installed some new shelves. All the games, blanket and Barbie's, accessories, clothing, cars, furniture, and all baby doll things can now be nicely stored. Ken may not walk well for the next week or so, but the closet looks beautiful and the faucet doesn't leak anymore.
Update
So thanks to everyone who prayed that Shelisa's car would pass the emissions because it did! What a relief and with only a day to spare before we had to get it resmogged.
